Synapse - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synapse
WEBSynapse. Diagram of a chemical synaptic connection. In the nervous system, a synapse [1] is a structure that permits a neuron (or nerve cell) to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another neuron or to the target effector cell. Synapses are essential to the transmission of nervous impulses from one neuron to another, [2] playing a key role ...

WEBFeb 13, 2020 · Synapsis or syndesis is the lengthwise pairing of homologous chromosomes. Synapsis mainly occurs during prophase I of meiosis I. A protein complex called the synaptonemal complex connects the homologues. The chromatids intertwine, breaking apart and exchanging pieces with one other in a process called crossing-over.

Synapsis - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synapsis
WEBSynapsis or Syzygy is the pairing of two chromosomes that occurs during meiosis. It allows matching-up of homologous pairs prior to their segregation, and possible chromosomal crossover between them. Synapsis takes place during prophase I of meiosis. When homologous chromosomes synapse, their ends are first attached to the nuclear envelope.
